My laptop speed

I just bought a laptop today, and the box says that the
spped is 1.8 ghz (Athlon 2200+) and the computer it self
says 1.05 ghz. Can someone help me out on this problem

One thing to consider is that many (most? all?) mobile chips have a power
down function so that they consume less energy when running on batteries.
Probably that's what's happening.
