Word stalling/waiting when doing save as on XP Pro SP2

Hi All,
I wonder if someone has seen this. When I try to use 'save as' on word
XP and I am connected to the web either via phone or LAN word 'hangs'
for between 20 seconds and 2-3 minutes. Explorer also hangs if I try to
move around in it. Obviously something is looking for something on the
network connection, but who knows what??

If I am not connected to the network it is fine.

For example, if I receive an attachment in outlook and try to save
attachments each navigation of a directory hangs the PC.

I am running a 2GHz Dell Inspirion 8600 with 1GB memory and 100GB disk.
It's a nerw machine only manufactured last october. XP Pro SP2 and
Office Pro XP.

Anyone seen this before? Any advice on where to look for the problem?

Hi All,
I have found what I believe to be the problem but I cannot find a
solution.

When I try to open word and other programs I get packets generated
looking for the ip address 10.2.3.161. This is an internal IP address
of a client I was at 2 weeks ago. I have checked 'my network places'
and I cannot see anything that I might have used at that client that
might still be left. I did connect to some machines when I was at that
client and this seems to be where the address came from. What I'd like
to know is there anything in XP to tell me what application is
requesting data from this address? I might be able to track down what
app is asking for the address....
