We're using Messenger in a corporate environment with Exchange Server 2000
and Messenger 5.0. At the end of the day when some IM contacts leave and
turn off their computers, the status still says they are online. During the
day when some are actually online it shows them offline. Any clues?

I have been complaining about this for about 9 months now. The presence
indication of Windows Messenger is abysmal. I was finally (I hope) able to
overcome the limitation by installing the latest beta version of MSN
Messenger. Seeing as how I have had it installed for less than a week I am
not thoroughly convinced that the problem is actually.
Additionally, I really want to revert to a drive image where I am using the
latest version of Windows Messenger (it was designed for Windows XP,
right?) - if Microsoft gets off their collective arses and addresses this
continuing problem. I know literally dozens of people who complain of this
condition!
Without doing anything to the computer (other that installing one or the
other) A.I.M. works fine, as does ICQ.
