Restoreing Win Me backup too XP

I see where MS made it imposabile to restore a backup
file created under any other OS to work in XP as per
there Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 305381
Has anyone found a third party software to do this?

You may have success restoring Win 98/ME backups (.qic)
with Stomp BackupMYPC (formerly Veritas Backup Exec)

There's a 30 day trial, although I admit I have used it only with=20
CD-RW sets so far...also XP friendly.
