copy files from one computer to another

Hi everyone,
While using two Win XP machines, workstation and portable from the
workstation i'd like to copy a powerpoint presentation to the portable
computer ( I'm in a lan), but I keep getting an error message telling me that
I don't have permission to write to the portable computer.
I have turned off the firewall on both machines and I have write permissions
on both machines.
What other settings would necessitate changing in order to copy the file?
