I also have the identical large middle zone separating the "F" and "G"
Add/Remove entires with back and white banding. Neither of the scripts
posted affected the anolomly. The "white space" tutorial at kelly's korner
for registry editing isn't very clear either. I have seen at least two other
posts on other forums mentioning the issue, it seems to be becoming common.

Uninstall recently installed programs one at a time and see what happens. I
had it happen to me when I installed an old crossword puzzle program.
