View Full Version : Sp2 Auto Install

I received a newsletter from a Tech group that said Microsoft will force WXP
SP2 auto download & install on 4/12/05. Is this true?
I have put off installing it because I installed in back when it first came
out but then lost all internet access on my computer. After trying every
suggestion I could find I finally uninstalled SP2 and my internet came back.
I'm not prepared to lose it again. By the way, I have Zone Alarm (free
version) installed and someone suggested that I uninstall it before applying
SP2 to see if that helps. Any thoughts on that?
Thank you,
Holly

Holly;
Bad journalism.
Drop them and find a reliable source for information.
They are publishing just enough facts to make it seem believable.
If you do not want SP-2, you will not get it:

I would go into Services applet and carefully disable True Vector Engine,
which is part and parcel of ZOneALarm... When uninstalling ZoneAlarm (only
if you have to) I first disable this.... I think if you shut ZoneAlarm down
while installing SP2, it will save you some possible grief. Actually, save
yourself a lot of grief, and don't install SP2 again...
