DVDROM Drive-Ready To Toss It Out The Window And Take A Sledgehamm

My DVDROM drive does not recognize ANY optical disks but neither does it give
ANY error messages.

I've uninstall/reinstalled the drive, removed drive/disconnected connections
and performed a Hard Reset on the entire hard drive.

I've tried the WONDERFUL Microsoft troubleshooters which gave NO HELP at all.

When I insert a DVD/CD I can see the drive activity light flash for 3 tries
and then stops and if I pull up that drive(say through WMP) it shows "no
discs".

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may be that the drive is faulty, can you swap it for another one? Can you
try this drive in another pc?

Blame British Telecom, 4 weeks to get a phone line connected and broadband
