View Full Version : Additional suffix Added To Filename

Whenever I try to download an .exe file from a website, I get the usual
window asking whether I want to open or save the file.

The problem is that, for some reason, a .wpd extension is added to the
..exe extension, so that the file would be saved as a WordPerfect file
(due to the .wpd suffix). How do I prevent the .wpd suffix from being
appended to the filename?

For various reasons, I maintain the WordPerfect program on my machine.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is this true for only one specific file, or does it happen to all .exe
downloads? I ask as I have used WP since March of 1983, so I know a
bit about it, and I've never had a problem downloading any .exe file
from the Internet with a computer that has WP on it. So, I'm wondering
about specifics of your problem; with that information, I ought to be
able to _totally_ confuse you (or, perhaps even help...).

This happens with all .exe files. (I use Netscape 7.01 as my browser).
