The XP load screen processes, but the Windows XP logon
screen does not appear, all I get is a dark screen. This
trouble first happened 3 days ago when I upgraded from a
XP1600 to an XP1700 and also flashed the Bios on my mobo.
After the problems started I reflashed it to the old one.
However I still could only get to safe mode. Anything else
would get me a blank screen. Repair, reinstall wouldn't
work, XP also didn't install after I quickformatted the
drive. I eventually slow formatted the drive and
reinstalled XP and all programs.
Yesterday after running fine for two days, I turned the
system on went into my bios and set my cpu to a higher
multiplier.
I got the black screen again, no logon, no Xp. When I went
back to the bios and set it for the right multiplier, I
still get the black screen. I can only get to safe mode
again. I changed the video card. Didn't do anything. I
don't think this is hardware. I think that somewhere in XP
a setting is messed up.
Can someone make sense of this and help me?
