In cmd prompt,type:CHKDSK C: /F (C: being the hd)

also use chkdsk /r for free space testing.

Thanks for that Andrew and Steve. I tried CHKDSK C: /F but
it comes back invalid parameter, it recognises /P and /R
Any idea's
