XP Style Display Is Not Available!

My computer switched from the Windows XP style display to
the Windows classic style and no longer gives me the
option to switch it back to Windows XP style. In the
desktop properties under the appearance tab, Windows
Classic Style is now the only option. This is the second
time this has happened. Last time I ended up formatting
my system to get it back but I would rather not do that
again. I have never switched to Windows Classic. It did
this on it's own. I tried restoring my system to an
earlier date using system restore but this did not solve
my problem. If someone can help with this, please email

have you tried the 'themes' tab?


select the theme you prefer.

Yes, I have tried that. It does nothing to fix my
problem. When I go to the appearance tab and look under
Windows and Buttons, it used to have an option for both
Windows XP Style and Windows Classic Style. Now the only
option there is Windows Classic Style. I have no way of
switching it back to Windows XP Style. I haven't done
anything to my system to cause this and this is the second
time it has happened. This happened once before and I
tried everything I could think of to get it back and I
didn't have any luck whatsoever. I ended up formatting my
system and reinstalling Windows XP Pro.

Verify that your themes service is running. If the service is stopped, then
the xp style will not be available.
