I got a message of a live update that took a long time to
download and then given an option to install now or
later. I clicked install later and turned off the
computer. Now I can't find where that update is in order
to install it. Also, I called tech support for my
computer and was told never to install updates for
Windows XP since the updates could predate what I already
have and cause a problem so that I would have to
reinstall windows. I find it hard to believe that I
should never update Windows XP. Whne I went to windows
update it tells me there are critical updates to be
installed. Any idea what i should do.

You have some dumb tech support idividual. If you downloaded an update and
cannot now find it perhaps you can begin downloading it again. When you get
the window showing where the download will be stored--stop-- write it down
then cancel the download. Go to that location and see what is there. I hope
you are using the Windows update site because it 'reads' whats on your
system and will only send you needed updates so you won't get updates that
'precede' what you have. Option 2. Forget about what was downloaded and go
to the WU site (windows update) I.E. Click on windows update.
