Hi;

How can I block ports 137, 136 and 245 in my computer? My
operating system
is XP professional..

Hi,

Download and install zonealarm www.zonealarm.com
*It's free*
Once installed it will prevent incoming connections from the web - and I
guess... stop the messenger pop ups you are experiencing :-)

Actually, the free version of ZoneAlarm does not stop
popups. You'll need ZoneAlarm Pro for that (which does
cost some money).

Strange, mine does !!
And it is the free one.
ZA gives you the possibility to close the programs to enter internet,
and then, if you only allow your mail, news and web browser, there
will be no problems with pop ups.
You can also use ICF (Internet connection Firewall) to close those
ports.
I would recomend to put in a separate router or gateway, for more
security. Then you can spesify most parameters for connection, and
port forwarding etc.
