Windows XP Critical Updates

The following Updates fail to install.
Can anyone tell me why?
The following items failed to install. To try installing
them again, click Review and install updates, and then
click Install Now again.

Microsoft Windows XP)
Q329441: Critical Update
814033: Critical Update
328310: Security Update
810565: Critical Update
810833: Security Update (Windows XP)
810577: Security Update
811630: Critical Update (Windows XP)
329170: Security Update
331953: Security Update (Windows XP)

There are a couple of threads in this group that recommend
deleting/renaming the catroot2 folder to resolve this problem.

Go to C:/windows/system32 and find file 'catroot2' and rename it to anything
such as 'catroot4'. Then , reboot download and install. A new catroot2 file
will be generated.
