Hello All,
I have an IBM R30 and i have recently been playing Call of Duty and Call of Duty United offensive games on my 17" TFT. I have encountered a problem however.
The gameplay is really good up until a certain stage where the graphics basically die and go pixelly and green / pink colours. I have exhausted every possible avenue possible to fix this, i was wondering if anyone could help me or offer any advice. I don't see how it can be great right up until this point and then suddenly stop performing.
Could it be a corrupt game file or something along those lines?
Thanks

Unfortunately it's far more likely that the onboard graphics just aren't
sufficient for the game. Consider purchasing a separate graphics card.
Check whether you have a free AGP slot (or even PCI or PCI Express) and then
look at the collection of your games and find the one with the highest specs
and choose your card accordingly.
Then do your research.... and fix your budget. With high end gaming
graphics cards going up to $500, look at those which meet your
specification - and maybe a little higher - always plan for the future. You
can pick up something like a FX5700 with 256mb of RAM (AGP) for about $130
at places like www.newegg.com

Cari,
If this is the case how come i can play a percentage of the game with seamless gameplay?
Just a bit puzzling that's all. Massively expensive to upgrade laptop graphics card

What else are you running at the same time as the game? I understand that
it's a huge cost in changing notebooks (having just done it!)... but unless
it's a really high end one, notebook computers are really not designed for
gaming.
They suffer from overheating if you really push them hard... and the
graphics are never quite as good as a high end desktop. Integrated graphics
suffer more... often because you are 'borrowing memory' from RAM for them...
According to the IBM website this model has only 8mb of integrated graphics:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-39578
For gaming you should consider at least 64mb and often 128mb.
If you think it may be a corrupted driver, the latest can be found at IBM's
website at:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/multiplefiledownload.do?validate=true
Call of Duty requires at least 32mb of graphics memory and a T&L capable
graphics card (which is CyberBlade isn't). The game recommends at least
128mb of RAM and at least an nVidia GeForce or FX card or ATI Radeon.

Only too second Cari's opinions. Without having the notebook to test in
person it is hard to diagnose completely and accurately. There are many
causes for being able to play so far and then that is it, as Cari has
already said overheating is a big cause.
Does it always stop at the same point in the game, this could point towards
a section which uses more graphics than normal which the notebook can't cope
with, or if it always stops after about the same sort of time then more
likely an overheating issue as it takes this long to reach *boiling point*
If you want to test for faulty game, then just play it on another pc.
