can i get rid of this stuff?

I am trying to clean out my computer and save some hard
drive space. I am going through "Add Remove Programs" and
getting rid of all junk I don't need and I have 27
(Windows XP Hotfix (SPI)) and 1 (Windows XP Application
Cmpatibility Update. What are these programs and can I
get rid of them. Thanks.

If you are satisfied with how you computer operated, you may remove
the old file which were replaced by updates. DO NOT USE ADD/REMOVE
PROGRAMS TO GET RID OF THEM. This removes the updates and reverts
to the older files. You should remove the subdirectories where the
files are stored. They will still show up in your Add/Remove list.
When you click on the entry, you will get an error and an inquiry as
to whether you want to remove it from the list. You can click Yes,
but make sure you get the error before you proceed. If the folder
has not been removed, you will uninstall the update.
