View Full Version : My Windows XP won't shut off but restarts instead

I'm having problems with my computer/operating system.
Whenever I try to shutdown my system using the shutdown
Icon, the system restarts the computer instead of
shutting it down. When I manually shut off the power,
then turn the power back on, I get a disk check for
consistency run procedure. This has happen 3 times
within the past 4 days. Each disk check reveals a
Microsoft Windows message informing me that my system has
recovered from a serious error. Below is a copy of the
Error Signature as well as an Error Report Contents
Message. I think the problems began while attempting to
back up my C: Drive using the Easy Create CD 5 Platinum
Software. This software was installed on my computer
with the XP Operating System, so I did not receive the
package information (ex: TSID) that would naturally come
with the application had I bought it directly from the
company, so ROXIO can't be of help to me without that
information. I tried already.

Please see error messages below...

Error Signature:

BCCODE: a BCOI: 000000B0 BCP2: 000000002 BCP3:00000000
BCP4: 80503F7F OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 0_0 Product: 256_1

Error Report Contents:

C:\WINDOWS\Mindump\Min05703-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~Michael\LOCALS~1\Temp\\WER1.tmp.dir00
\sysdata.xml

I'm assuming that I have a device driver problem because
this problem began when I tried to backup my system/C:
Drive. A message was issued after a failed attempt to
format a CD_RW. The message instructed me to reinstall
the Easy CD Create 5 software that I'm using to backup my
system. I did reinstall, then had problems shutting down
my machine. How to fix this? ... ...I don't know. I'm
hoping someone out there with experience can help. I'm
out of work and funds are very very low to consider
taking my machine to a repair place. Can anyone help??

Mike

You are gettin an error on shut down. Go to control panel--system--advanced
and turn off reboot on error. The system them will stop and you can
investigat the error. Many times a program is not shutting down.
