View Full Version : Windows Explorer doesn't work

Whether I press the Windows Key and E or right click on 'My Computer'
and select 'Explore', it won't. All I get is the oscillating flashlight
emblem (animated icon) and no drives or folders show up.

I had this problem once before and thought I had fixed it by placing an
extra copy of OLE32.dll in C:\ but it is still there (Windows key F
still does a 'Find')but 'Explore does not work at all. Even when I
bring up a program like Word or Excel and do an 'Open' , the search
function fails to work there. It will show files but I can't select
them or change the folder I am looking in. Evidently this file's
(OLE32.dll)location was not the solution, though why it worked OK for a
while after placing it on C:\ without having it in any folder, though it
normally resides in C:\Windows\System32 (and is still there by the way).

Can someone point me to a cure for this problem. TIA

Bud
