System Slowdown

Has anyone else encountered a problem with the speed of
Windows slowing down after installing new files from the
Windows Update? I have had this happen to two Dell
machines I own. After running Windows Update it takes 4
or 5 seconds for any programs to load (they seem to run
fine once they do load) and it takes about the same
amount of time for each "folder" to open from Programs on
the Start button.

Yep, me too. As a matter of fact, I am now finding Windows XP freezing when
I open an application. To make the program "thaw" and work all I have to do
is open another application and the first application begins to work.
Again, once they are open, they work fine.

Common problem. In add/delete find 811493 and uninstall it. Widely discussed
on this and other newsgroups.

Does this fix the problem when you uninstal security patch
811493????
