I've checked out MS Knowledge Base Article 302796, but it
does help.

I have two IBM A31p Thinkpads running XP Pro. On one
machine, system restore does not work anymore (a few
months ago it was working fine): There are no restore
points saved and I cannot create one.

Under Events Properties I see:
The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected
error '0xC0000001' while processing the file '' on the
volume 'HarddiskVolume2'. It has stopped monitoring the
volume.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Any help?

Thanks.

Lester

Right click My Computer, choose 'Properties' click on the 'System Restore'
tab and check that system restore is not turned off, and is monitoring.
