I am running XP Home SPII. Everytime I start up my machine Windows Firewall
is off and I have to enter security centre and switch it back on. But when I
switch the machine off and restart again, the firewall is off again. Am I
missing something here? Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh, and I'm running Norton Internet Security, but I have the firewall on
this permanently off so I dont think this has anythying to do with it(?)

Fahim, try uninstalling NIS. See if that fixes the problem.

Norton can do weird and wonderful things sometimes. It's quite possible
that
Norton, on startup, checks to see if the Windows firewall is enabled, and
if so, disables it. The reason for this is that having two firewalls
running
may cause problems - just the same as if you had two virus checkers runing.

Is there any particular reason you're using the Windows firewall, rather
than
the Norton one?
