Hi,
I had a little slow-down, today,
and just couldn't get rid of it.
I eventually, rebooted into "safe
mode"; and AdAware caught two baddies.
Move, and counter-move.

Odd, Adware (unlike Spyware) normally doesn't slow your system down.

Hi,
I'm still watching it closely.
And - the software modem is
acting-up a bit; but the computer is
definitely running better, if not really
at it's best.
It might be coincidence, but I was
to the point of noticable lags, between
click, and response; and now it's
better than that.

Now that you've mentioned 'modem' check your outgoing traffic, you may have
picked up a dialler, although Adaware should have found that.
Hopefully you're running Spybot S&D?
What unusual usage does Device Manager show during these 'slow' periods?

Hi,
I re-installed Windows, onto an old
HDD.
Not really better.
I watch the modem pretty closely.
It disconnects a lot; almost
constantly, sometimes(now) - but the
traffic lights seem normal, although the
productivity does not match the
connection times.
I'm almost sure, that there's
ghosts mucking up the works; but they
hide their bandwidth, inside of mine.
Device manager ?
I run spyware scans all the time;
but the troublemakers, have caught up
with their tricks, so we're back to
wishing for a user's operating system.
Thanks,
Ken .
