XP slowdown

After updating xp my pc has slowed down. it takes a while
for any program to load and they still run slow. any help
with this headache would be welcome. P4 2.53 ghz, 1.5gig
ex mem.128 meg video.

If you installed 811493, uninstall it. Well known problem.
