I have a Dell 4400, running with windows Xp. I have tried updating sp2
several times. After up dating everything looks good for a week or two. I
shut my computer down each night. Problem: I turn on my computer it starts
booting up then it stops and ask me to select a user name ..... B U T ......
there is no user name to select from. I tried doing a Ctrl-Alt-Del and a
window pops up with my user name and wants a password ........... I have no
idea what the password is, I have never assigned a password, to log on to my
computer. What I end up doing is install my Windows Xp into a new and
different folder so I can back and save some of my files. I then do a
format and start over, reload all my software's. I updated to sp1 and run my
computer for a couple of months, with no problems. I decided to give Sp2 and
try again then the same problem popped up. I the reformatted and started
over again. I've done this 3 times and had the same problem. I now haves
SP1a loaded in and I'm not planning on updating to sp2 until I know what is
causing this problem. This problem only happens after I update to sp2 and a
week or so later the problem pops up. .........ANYBODY GOT ANY IDEAS WHAT
MIGHT BE CAUSING THIS PROBLEM.
