Sorry if this is not the right forum.
While I'm in Standby and if I dissconnect the A/C when I
resume from Standby, my HP laptop does not recognize that
I've switched over to battery power. (HP is no help)
I have to restart the computer for Power Management to
recognize that I'm on Battery. A minor annoyance but one
that I would like to solve, all the same. Anybody have a
fix?

Hmm. Sometimes I noticed a similar thing happen on my Sony laptop, but not
always. But do you really have to restart the computer? Can't you turn the
power mangement on and off? Wouldn't that be quicker?
Which power manger are you using? Does HP put on their own little program?

How do you turn the Power Manager on/off?
Device Manager lists ALi 7101 Power Managment Controller
using an MS Driver. It doesn't look like HP has their
own program.
thanks

Sony put another little program on my computer that puts an icon in the
notification area and that I can turn on and off to reset it if I have to.
I don't know how to turn off the Windows power management. Maybe you could
reset the XP power management by changing the power scheme and then moving
it back to the original scheme, then you can press the Apply button. (Watch
out though - there's some bug that makes all those schemes disappear
sometimes, though I think there is an easy fix if that does happen.) Good
luck.
