Re-sizing windows

Just recently, when I open a new window, it is either
very small or full size but only a corner of it shows,
and I have to drag or double-click to maximize it on my
screen. When I right click the top bar, and "size" the
window to full, it goes back to small or off-screen the
next time I open a window. How can I always open up new
windows full-size? Thanks.

You need to DRAG the window to the correct size, not click the
"maximise" button.
