No, I did not transfer a HD or anything. What I did was
load a fresh copy straight from the CD onto a brand new
HD; remember this was a new computer not a retread. I am
not a guru by any stretch of the imagination but I know
better, MS will never provide that type of user friendly
options to any product.
I would really appreciate someone who might be able to
provide some light on this problem. Right now I can't even
load any of the critical updates from MS because of this
problem and I hate to think of the security holes my OS
has. FYI, I have followed proper procedures, have not
taken any short cuts and everything in my PC is new and I
have made sure all were XP-compatible. My money is on a
software glitch within XP, possibly a missing file from
the installation but then again if I really knew where the
problem was I would not be seeking assistance here.
Thanks in advance.
