I have several computers windows xp, windows 95, windows 2000 and windows 98
se connected in the network. When win98 try to see sharing folders on windows
xp it is prompted for password (Resource\\NameComp\\IPC$ or NameRac is not
accessible. This device does not exist on the network.), but the others
computer with win95, winxp, win2000 can see sharing folder. Why win 98 se
computers can't and win95 can see sharing folders on windows xp computers.
I'll tried add ussers in User Accounts and then the windows 98 can see
sh.folders. But for windows 95 computers I did not have to add nothing in
user accounts. Please help. I'll be gratefull. Sorry for mistakes in my
writing.

Accessing a shared folder on Windows 2000 requires matching user
accounts on both computers: the Windows 2000 computer that owns the
share, and the computer that wants to access the share.
Windows XP Professional works the same as Windows 2000 if you've
disabled simple file sharing.

But, one pc winxp sp1 in the network has not enabled simple file sharing, and
others (all - win95, win 98 can see sharing folders and printers). Recantle I
have changed the name of one pc with win2000, and now I prompted for password
when I wont to reach some sharing files on thet winxp px. I am losing my
mind. I know nothing.

If simple file sharing was disabled and you enabled it, I recommend
un-sharing and then re-sharing all folders on that computer. Then,
try accessing them from other computers.

Now I can see sharing folder. This is the big step for me, but I cannot see
sharing printer. I did like you said, Steve, but it stays unvisible. It is
interesting thet windows 2000 and windows xp see, but windows 98 i vindows 95
cannot see the sharing printer, and all can see sharing folder.

Make sure that the printer's share name isn't longer than 12
characters. If it is, 98 and 95 won't be able to see it.
