When I was using a 56k dialup connection, my shut down performance was
normal (about 15 seconds). Since the day I started using a broadband
connection and installed my ADSL Conexant AccessRunner USB modem, my
computer takes a very long time (about 2-3 minutes) to shut down. I have not
felt any speed drawback while working with the computer or during boot/start
up, but only during restarting (the period when the computer is logging off,
saving my settings and shutting down).
Another question.. I have not been able to find any driver updates or newer
software for my modem. I believe it is a Conexant chipped modem, so I was
wondering if the drivers were old and causing problems, even though the
driver installation cd came with drivers designed for windows 98, Me, 2000
and XP. That is what is printed on the cd itself.
Thank you,
