All,

Prior to May 10 was able to log into Windows XP without
having to enter a system administrator password. On May
10 I assigned the system administrator a passsword and
now have to enter a password every time I log in. Only
have one account on this machine which is the system
administrator. How do I delete the system administrator
password on my machine so that I don't have to enter it
everytime I log into windows. Someone suggested bringing
my machine up in "Safe Mode" and I did that. However,
don't see how I can remove my password from my system
adminstrator account.

Can someone please help. This would be greatly
appreciated. And to those who have tried to help, Thanks
Much it was greatly appreciated...

Bob

Reboot and hit F8 as the machine is going through the
boot process. You may
have to repeatedly press F8 to catch it or you may need
to practice this a
coupla times to get it right. Once you get it right,
you'll be presented
with a selection of boot options including safe mode.
Just select that.
Good luck.

Go to Control Panel/User Accounts and then when in there, click on the
person set as the Administrator. One of the functions in there is marked
"Remove Password".

When I goto Control Panel/User Account all I have is the
Administrator and guest accounts, don't see a personnel
account for myself (Administrator). When I go into
Administrator I can change my password, however cannot
remove it.

This is what I get. Start/Control Panel/User Account. Then under User
Account, I can pick a Task:
1. Change an account
2. Create a new account
3. Change the way users log on or off.

there is also " or pick an account to change" where it lists my name as
"Computer Administrator" and Guest (since I have a Guest account setup for
my wife to use if necessary.)

Single click on my name and 6 additional tasks appear:
1. Change my name
2. Change my password
3. Remove my password*****
4. Change my picture
5. Change my account type
6. Change my .NET Passport

Under "Remove my password" (#3) it asks for your password and then after you
enter it, it will remove it.

If you don't see these items, then I guess you really don't have an
Administrator Password setup. BTW - If you ever want to setup any automatic
scheduling of say Defrag or an Antivirus Scan, it has to be done under the
Computer Administrator, who must have a password setup.
