I cannot install my printer (Lexmark x4270 All in one) because I keep getting a message telling me that the specified "print monitor" is unknown. I do now know how to resolve this problem. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Are any other printers installed? If so, you may need to disable the existing printer monitor(s)

To install a all-in-one printer you must install the accompanying software
first before even connecting it to your PC. Does it have an brochure or
flyer giving the steps to install it? Insert the installation disk and
follow the
prompts and connect the printer when it tells you to do so.

Actually the instructions inform me to have the power one while installing
it. And yesturday when I called tech. support for Lexmark they had me remove
the USB for a couple of minutes then put it back in...but let me tell you,
they were not much help. I think (and that I mean think!) I took care of the
RPC problem but now it's giving me an error message of "RPC server is
unavailable" I have not looked this up yet...I'm just so frustrated...this
is a printer for heaven's sake, it should not take this long to "figure
out." I'm gonna fail this class...not only does my printer not work, but
also now I have a problem with my MS Word and I do not have the key any
longer. If I didn't want my degree so bad this computer would have been
thrown in the creek out back about three days ago.
Sorry about that....but thanks for help!!!

First off, please do not post in HTML. I can give you three solutions
Welcome to Canon
www.canon.com
Welcome to Epson
www.epson.com
Welcome to HP
www.hp.com
The final solution is sledgehammer.
Lexmark rely on people like you who don't do their homework before
purchasing - why *anyone* still buys Lexmark inkjets and MFDs is beyond me.
Ironically, their lasers aren't half bad...

I'm afraid there isn't enought information here to help me. I do no have a
canon, hewlett packard, or epson and I have no idea what to do with
sledgehammer. And excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware you needed to do
"homework" when looking for a printer. You may be able to pick and choose
but I have to buy what I can afford. Thank you very much, have a nice day!

Yes, that's the problem...
and I have no idea what to do

Take unit outside and hit with sledgehammer. Is that descriptive enough for
you, or would you like me to draw you a picture...?
And excuse my ignorance but I wasn't aware you

Crikey - if you can afford to run a Lexmark you must be a millionaire! Cost
of printer around £90. Cost of black tank £40. Cost of colour tank: £45.
Total cost for a set of replacement tanks: - £85.
For the same money, you could have bought an HP Officejet 4215
(printerr/scanner/copier/fax). Cost of replacement black tank: - £15. Cost
of replacement colour tank: - £20 Total cost: - £35.
But then you'd have known this had you done your homework.... Doing homework
means reading reviews, garnering opinions from others, factoring running
costs (which you obviously did not do...) and then weighing it all up and
making an informed decision. This you did not do, you just purchased the
first unit you saw that fitted your budget and now you're going to end up
paying for it in the long run...
Like I said, you must be extremely wealthy if you can afford to run - and
maintain - a Lexmark.
And thank you for turning off the HTML - you obviously *DID* know what I
meant...
