XP problems

Hi there, I've never written to a group in this capacity
before so here goes and please forgive any shortfalls in
etiquette. I bought a custom CPU the other day with XP
loaded in already. Some simple programs don't work. Like
I click on the Sytem Information tab and get the
hourglass symbol for a second but will not open the
system info, or I try to open my Soundblaster Live
speaker setup section and it says plug in failed.How do I
get a back up disk for XP if I have problems, as I don't
have a disk that came with the CPU it was just preloaded
w/license sticker. This is Windows XP home. Please help.
