Problem with Microsoft Windows update Q817287

Hi,

Whenever I try to install the update below, I get this
error message:

The following items failed to install. To try installing
them again, click Review and install updates, and then
click Install Now again.

Q817287: Critical Update (Catalog Database Corruption in
Microsoft Windows XP)

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Caused by a corrupt 'catroot2' file. Iromically 817287 fixes the problem
that causes the corrupt file. To fix: Go to C:/windows/system32 and find
file 'catroot2'. Rename this file to anything such as catold. Reboot,
download and install the update . A new catroot2 file will be generated.
