How do I compress home videos saved as .avi files? I downloaded a 25 minute
home video and it is 5.75GB! How do I make this smaller but maintain the
quality?

That's about the right size for a DV-AVI files which takes up approximately
12gb per 60 minutes. If you convert it to almost anything else (MPEG1,
MPEG2, WMV, MOV etc) you will be able to have a smaller file, but you'll
lose the quality.
Depends on what's more important to you, file size or file quality.
