I was told I should get some kind of copy of the disc or
a restore disc of some kind w/XP purchase? Anybody for
sure and have web or number to call? Please! Thanks!

What exactly did you purchase?
Some computers (HP is one) do not furnish CDs with their computers.
The Restore function is available from a hidden partition on the hard
drive.
Check the manual or contact the computer manufacturer for more
details.

And, if it is a machine that some company other than one of the Biggies
built, you should have gotten a copy of Windows XP that you paid for... I
reported a company that was installing Windows ME on machines they built and
giving the buyer nothing, no restore disc, no XP disc.. This is illegal as
far as i know.. What is happening is transparent as hell! They are
re-selling one disc of Windows to many people....
