Hi all this fix.

Performance of 1394 devices may decrease after you install
Windows XP Service Pack 2.

I see it says this, on the MS site

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you connect a 1394a or 1394b FireWire device to a
1394b port. This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes 1394b ports
to S100 speed when you upgrade.

I take it by the MS site SP2 only affects 1394b not 1394a??

If I have 1394a I wouldnt need this fix/patch would I??

Or does it apply to BOTH 1394a and 1394b?

Hi,

Seems pretty clear that it only affects the 1394b ports and any attached
devices.

You may want to post to PcBanter Video & Drivers (http://pcbanter.net/forumdisplay.php?f=38)
We have been running blue light specials for firewire there.
Expect no help from Microsoft.

Ta Rick. I thought that was the case.

I'm not after anything firewire Treeman.

I have a PCI firewire card.

I was just asking, if the patch I asked about was for 1394a,
which it isn't...
