I was on a domain, but when not connected i could still
access those files. So even when not connected to the
server the files were there on my local machine. My user
acct did not show up on the local machine- so when I log
on to the local machine those files could not be located.
My son took my machine out of the domain and now i can
only log onto the local machine and can't access my files
or even the email (outlook and outlook express) acct
setup on the profile that was part of the domain. Even
offline i was able to access this. Now I cannot and am
wondering where my files are and how to locate them

If you are talking about files saved in the My Documents folder, try this:

Open Windows Explorer, expand My Computer, expand the C: drive, expand
Documents and Settings. Look for a folder called domainusername.domainname.
Expand that and you should see a folder called My Documents containing your
files.

You will not be able to synchronize offline files with a domain server if
you are not joined to a domain. Also, Outlook Express accounts are created
on a per profile basis, so you will have to recreate them when logged on as
a local user. Also, you may be able to copy the domain profile to your
local profile.
