During system maintenance, running scan disk and choosing
to delete files, like the temporary internet files, the
recycle bin, etc... Included is the option to delete
the "compress old files" category. Will deleting the
contents of this "file" contribute to system troubles
down the road, immediately or at all ? As of yet I have
effectively removed 5mb of "compressed old files" from
this system during the scandisk operation and have not
yet suffered any ill effects. Should I cease removing
these "compressed" files, or are they trivial
associations with which my system has no fundamental use ?

Thanx.

DJ;
Many people have issues with the Compress old Files function.

You are not actually deleting anything.
You are simply allowing Windows to compress files that have not been
used recently.
I personally never use it and because of some earlier troubles the
option is gone from my compute.
