View Full Version : hundreds of levels of empty registry keys

Has anyone any information on why there would be huindreds of levels of
empty registry keys in the LOCAL MACHINE/Software hive of Windows XP
SP1. These keys contained the same entries at the bottom level as found
in the software key.

The machine has been playing up seriously lately. It has now been
rebuilt from scratch. It is a 2 yo HP machine that refuses to have SP2
installed on it.

Can you provide a sample of Key names ? & how does it
refuse to take SP2 ? Is it a desktop or notebook.
Generalized questions are really hard to diagnose and don't
really give enough insight to work with.
