Can I record on an unused part of a CD-R ? I have burned on about half when I
try to burn on the remainder I keep getting "insert blank CD"
of it but --

you could only do this if you have used packet writing software (nero incd
etc) this would then treat the cdr differently allowing you to continue a
recording session, if you have not used packet writing then the answer is no
the disc will be finalised so therefore you cannot write any more data to it

As Steve wrote, that is probably the result of writing the CD in a session
style (XPs built in method), versus packet writing (third party software). A

Like others have pointed out. If you use windows to burn your cd's,
then there is no option

I use Nero. You can use the Incd software to use it like a floppy disk
until it is full (you can delete files, but it won't free space).

Or you can start the CD as a Multisession CD .. In that way you can
'Continue Multisession CD' next time, until the CD is full.

But you really need some third hand software to do this.
