Hi,
A friend of mine is having issues with his dialup connection where the modem
keeps hanging up every 20 mins.. He is trying download SP2, but as you can
imagine over a dial up connection, the process is turning out to be
frustrating...
Is it possible for SP2 to be downloaded without going through windows update
? I would like to download it(the wonders of broadband) and take it to his
machine on my USB drive...
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
Yes, the file can be used for a standalone PC - Pro and Home.

If I may make one more suggestion. Make a slipstreamed CD of WinXP. The
best time to install SP2 is just after a fresh install of XP. With the
slipstreamed CD, SP2 is installed at the same time as XP. Amazingly, the
time to install both is no more than installing XP alone saving about 30
minutes and reducing the chances of any problems with SP2.
Good luck
