I cannot get my computer to defragment. The
defragmenter program starts ok, does it analasis, and
after a little while of defragmenting, I get the
message: "the scan has been canceled because an error
occured in file:c:\system volume information\restore
(73303aep-7f65-4390-bf62-e2e877591fa9) \rp1\a000597.exe"
Help! I have reinstalled windows xp, but it has not
fixed this problem. The computer is getting slower and
slower.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions, Shirley, : )

Delete your saved restore points and then try defrag again.
To delete the restore points use Control Panel (classic view)> System.
Click on the System Restore tab. Check the box to turn off System
Restore on all drives. Restart the computer. Turn System Restore back on
again by removing the checkmark in the same location as before.

If you are still having problems try booting to safe mode
first,than check disc. Or,>start>run type msconfig,click
start up tab. uncheck everything except system
tray>apply>reboot and do check disc.
