Can't delete programs out of my Start menu ???

I click on START then I right click on the program I want
to delete and nothing happens. Am I doing something
wrong? I hope its something silly on my part. Help ...

Open the 'task bar and start menu' applet from the control panel.
Click the start menu tab then click customise.
A window will appear, click the advanced tab.
In the start menu items box, place a tick next to 'Enable dragging and
dropping'
Click ok, apply, ok.

This will enable dragging and dropping on the start menu but also it will
enable right clicking.
