Hi!
I've got this problem... My XP is booting up for a BIT too long... It
exacly longs for 162 seconds (BootVis measurment). I mentioned BootVis
- using it didn't do anything. It only said that the most troublmaking
drivers are ps/2 and kbdclass.sys (they launch for 53 sec and load the
cpu for 100%). I downloaded the newest drivers for my keyboard and
mouse, but it didn't help. I even reinstalled the whole OS, but it's
still the same. Oh, and "error report" (don't know the exact name - I
have non-english WinXP version) says that on boot OS can't load a
"lkbdhlpr" driver. Help!

Thanks in advance
Cyclops

There's also a HP scanner and printer, but I think it's not a big
matter for the problem ;]

Try this
click start , Run , type in msconfig and hit enter, when page comes up click
on startup tab, See what all is running there, You only need like , system
tray and power options checked, uncheck everything else once and reboot, see
if it helped. All those programs in there run on startup if they are
checked.
Hope this helps.

Yup, know that. But there are only system stuff there like rundll32 or
dumprep. Some are from installed programms, but even when I turn off
everything exept the "important" ones it's the same. The system goes
that way all the time since install. But thanks for the try anyway :D

Cyclops,

Hello. Earlier today I came across your post through Google Groups. I have had this same issue for over a year. Today I had an epiphany and fixed it. My system specs are almost identical to yours, so this should work.

1) Go into your system BIOS setup.
2) Goto Integrated Peripherals.
3) Change Port 64/60 Emulation to 'Disable'.
Save and reboot.

Now for the explination:
I also had tried everything. Yesterday I got a copy of BootVis.exe . What I discovered was that kbdclass.exe and ps/2 drivers were delaying for about 55 sec. then I woud get the login screen and everything would work fine. After this I started searching the newsgroups and found your post. I thouhgt it was a strange coincidence that the system would boot fast with the keyboard unplugged. After more searching I couldn't find anything relating both slow bootup and the keyboard. I decided to check out the BIOS. The only thing that I was unfamiliar with was the 'Port 64/64 Emulation', so I turned it off and rebooted. BAM!!! Took 25 sec. total. I ran a trace w/ BootVis again and the delay from the keyboars and PS/2 drivers was about 9 sec.

If this works for you like it did me, could you pass this on.

Thanx,

G17AN
