My computer suddenly crashes with no sign of warning. I
didn't install anything new. It happened when I tried to
reboot it. Under the safe mode, I see the following errors
in the Event View.
------------------------------------------

The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during
its internal processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line
44 of d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1
\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product
Support Services to report this error.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

----------------------------------------------
Any input is welcome!

See if the System Restore can help: "How to Restore the Operating
System to a Previous State in Windows XP"

My computer did not crash but I found the source of the error code.

For me it is caused by MSN Messenger when it is configured to load on
startup but not automatically connect to the internet.

If I configure it to not load on start up , no error message.
If I then manually start Messenger, no error message.
If I configure it to load on start up and connect automatically, no
error message.

But, if I configure it to load on start up but not connect
automatically, I get the error message

"The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was 8007043C from line 44 of
d:\nt\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cp p"

I hope this was of some help.
