I am running windows XP. I have a dos game (Carmaggedon) that I want to run in
dos. I created a dos boot disc, but I have no access to my CD drive. When I
had win98 before I could boot up dos with the install floppy and run my dos
game no problems. How can I boot up with dos and have CD drive support also.
I do have a floppy that came with the CD drive that has dos extensions on it.
Can I use these and create a boot disc. Is there any way to have a choice on
boot up betwwen dos
or windows XP. I tried running the game through windows, but it ends after
the intro. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows XP is not based on DOS, therefore there is
no DOS to boot into.

Boot up with a Win98 startup floppy. Choose CD support when prompted!

Try DOSBox to run them within Windows.

You could try using VMWare, if you have access to it, on which you can just
install any OS (including DOS) and run any application. You won't have any
hardware acceleration (I believe Carmageddon supports Voodoo-based cards),
but at least VMWare will give you a completely isolated environment, and
thus a *true* DOS environment inside your host OS.
