This is a wierd problem. When I sign on with AOL Broadband, my internet
explorer doesn't detect the connection. I minimized AOL and click on IE and
get the message that "page won't display". Normally this always worked. I
downloaded a third party browser call "Crazy Browser". Same problem!! My only
working browser is AOL. Why? EVen if AOL is set to default, I should still be
able to minimize AOL and open IE, right? Thanks ahead of time!!

Here's what you need to do:

1. Cancel your AOHell account and don't let them try and talk you into
keeping it.

2. Reformat your hard drive.

3. Get a real ISP and never, ever, put AOHell on your computer again.

Alias, unfortunately (for AOL) probably has the best suggestion. But if you
do not want to close the AOL account, the best thing you can do is not use
their software at all. Go to "My Connections" and add a dial up connection
that will connect you directly. When you enter you user name remember to use
the full email address and not just your screen name.

If none of this works, AOL does have it's own message boards, and there are
some folks there who have the problems of AOL pretty well figured out ...
you might wanna have a look see.

I suspect that AOL discontinued access to UseNet for fear that people like
me might give good advice to the hapless AOHell users.

AOL continues it's loosing streak - More & More customers are leaving
for other ISP's. Believe the latest count is in excess of 300,000 over the
last quarter. $24 a month, when you can get NetZero or PeoplePC for
under $10 - Typically, the Management at AOL is "Trimming" staff to
try & keep itself afloat.

AOL's day has come and gone. Plus it's a Royal PITA to uninstall &
rid a PC of it's software.

What I find amazing is how many companies use AOL or have their software
installed. And then they wonder why they have problems.

Was this always the case or a new problem? I suggest checking your IE
Internet Options/Connection Settings. There should be no proxy shown.
Also empty any tiff files and take a look at Troubleshooting Windows:
Internet Browsing (Part 1 of 4)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316894

You might also inquire in the internetexplorer.ie6.browser group.

The ONLY thing the OP can do to solve the problem is to nuke AOL. Period.

Wrong and childish. I share your dislike of AOL (to put it mildly) but
Internet Explorer is normally usable through an AOL connection.

Call the AOL support line. After all, you're paying for it, might
as well use it.

When you sign onto AOL is your account set for adult or a child?
When it is set for a child then you can't use internet explorer. This
is because AOL will only let that account view certain web pages on its
browser. If all the child had to do was switch over to IE then it would
defeat the purpose. Hope this helps.

I remember years ago seeing that same in usenet then thier stock went to
$3/share. They popped up and pulled a rabit out of their hat [unlimited
dial up time] and their stock went to what, almost $300?

I wonder if they have any rabbits left in their hat.....

It that the $9.95 service you pay for if you have a cable or dsl
connection? If so, its totally un-needed and will just bugger up your
system.

The confort zone. Many small firms here do the same as their employees
have aol at home.

Cancellation of the account, full format(to zeros), clean install, will
