I have been trying to deploy SP2 and several windows patches on 150 of our
300 computers, however whenever it is applied, it results in a blue screen
after reboot. This occurs in normal or safe mode. The PCs in question are
Dell Dimension 4550s, a IBM 819893u and a few misc models. We have 150 IBM
6565s that have no problems.

Our systems are based on a standard ghost image, with Windows XP Pro, SP1,
Lotus Notes 6, Office XP, and a few other misc programs. Installign XP from
scratch on the Dell, and then applying SP2 causes no problems. After then
installing all standard software no problems occur.

I have determined that a few specific patches, which I assume are included
with SP2 are the cause of the problem. These are KB840987, and 885835, and I
think one other. I need suggestions for how to work around this without
reghosting all the machines.

..............And the SP2 debacle continues, despite protestations from
various MS-MVPs that it is a stable 'patch'... 150 out of 300 PCs; consider
yourself lucky?.......My SP2 disc from Microsoft is still in the desk
drawer, Thank You.
