If so. How can this been done?
- Is it as easy as purchasing an upgrade
- Will my installed applications be affected?
- Will my current system setup be affected (users, services etc)
thanks

An upgrade to Windows XP Pro will not affect your current programs or files
if you use the following procedure:
1. Purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" of Windows XP Professional.
2. Uninstall your antivirus program.
3. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD.
4. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. While running Windows XP Home, insert the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option. [Do not select "New Installation"]
6. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
7. Reinstall your antivirus program and defrag your drive.

yes it can be done. all you have to do (this way is to keep all your
documents and stuff) is boot up Home edition log in,then pop in the disc auto
run should go on. if not go to start, then my computer, disc should appear
should be your Drive D: unless you have one or more HD's, and then once
inside open setup or auto run (i'm not sure which shoudl be one or the other)
then install it and follow the steps. make sure that if you do it this way
you only get the upgrade to professional disc not the full (unless you need
to reformat your computer later or need to reinstall windows xp then get
full.) but if you can afford it get full version in case any problems arise
that you need to reinstall win XP professional completely. need any more help
contact me at if i can't figure out my dad
knows a lot more than i do and so does Isaac (friend of my dads)

I am so sick and tired of illiterate responses. Alon, learn English. This
response is IMPOSSIBLE to read. Has anyone ever taught you about run-on
sentences? If you are the coming generation of computer mavens, I shudder
to think what that means.
